Originally from Tidewater Virginia, Emmett grew up vacationing on the Outer Banks with his family. After raising two daughters he decided that he really wanted to become a permanent resident of Hatteras Island. He was drawn to the Outer Banks for many of the same reasons visitors make this area their vacation destination; but what appealed to him the most was the relaxed lifestyle and the natural environment.
